Click to enlarge. | Discover how good radio can sound - HD Radio is a Digital technology that allows a radio station to transmit more information in the same radio wave, enabling higher quality sound and additional content. HD Radio technology makes AM Stations have FM Station-like sound quality, while FM Stations are broadcast with CD-like sound quality.
- Unlike typical FM or AM transmission, HD Radio has crystal clear reception with low noise and no audio distortion.
More content, more listening options with Multicasting - Multicasting allows more channels to be accessed from your radio dial. HD Radio multicast channels can be listened to only by an HD Radio enabled stereo such as the KD-HDR50. These "Stations In Between the Stations" contain additional format options, music genre and talk radio options, and even experimental formats that have, until now, never been heard through other radio broadcast mediums.
- HD Radio broadcasting is completely free of charge--there are no monthly plans or subscription costs for this unique and exciting content.
- National coverage areas--HD Radio content is currently available in close to 200 major markets currently and rapidly expanding. For more information or to find HD Radio stations near you, log on to mobile.jvc.com or www.hdradio.com.

A 3.5mm front panel auxiliary input is also included for use with iPods, MP3 players, or other external audio devices. Room to Grow The KD-HDR20's got the basics for a great system, but with a few additions you can expand your options. Add JVC modules for Bluetooth, iPod direct control, CD changers or SAT Radio to take your system to the next level. Amazed with all the features for the price! July 3, 2010 J. Ratajesak (Oceanside, CA USA) I was using a Maximo FM Transmitter to play my MP3 device on my AM/FM/CD stero. I live in southern California and I was constantly trying to find an unused FM channel using the FM transmitter. After a while I decided to upgrade my car stero that had an auxiliary input so I could play my MP3 device. The JVC KD-HDR20 was an excellant purchase. The stero has so many features that I'm still finding features about my new stero that I didn't know about. If you have only used factory stocked steros in the past you might have a bit of a learning curve figuring out all the features of the stero but well worth it. I can tell the difference when I'm listening to a HD radio station even though I drive a F250 Ford pick up with a diesel engine which is noiser than a car. I have the stero hooked up to the speakers that came with my pick up and the stero has plenty of power. I like the fact you can change the display on the radio so you can see what the name of song that is playing which is scrolled acrossed the display along with the name of the artist and the name of the album. You can choose auto, analog, or digital for the FM. Also, if you have a weak radio station you can choose mono which brings in the station even better but you sacrifice the stero feature. The display on the stero makes it easy to find where you left off listening to a book on CD. I don't find it difficult to program or find a radio station. Once the radio station is saved, you can press the "Menu" than turn the volume dial to the preset station, than press the volume button or use the up or down feature on the remote to go from one saved radio station to another. I can't say one bad thing about the JVC KD-HDR20 and I would definately would recommend to anyone and would buy again. For the money and all the features, this unit is well worth the money. Because my truck rides on the rough side, I find it easier to control the stero with the remote. The only thing I need to do is figure out where I can attach the remote to some place where I can reach easliy. I would also recommend the Scosche IU3.5RC 3.5mm Retractable Cable to connect to your MP3 unit Scosche IU3.5RC 3.5mm Retractable Cable
Decent first HD radio! June 14, 2010 Joanna Benitez Pretty decent overall radio and easy to install. I installed it in my 87 Honda Accord. I bought a harness and installed the radio in about 30 min. HD signal in LA is awesome. AM radio sounds like FM, no static or popping. FM sounds perfect. Decent sound. EQ is alright, no bass but thats expected at this price range. It can put out some volume with stock system especially CD's. Overall amazing value. I would recommend.
Great product... April 13, 2010 Debbie L. Grijalva For the price I paid, this is a great unit. I've had no problems with it so far. It's hard to operate while driving, unless you use the remote. With the remote, it's very easy...
Nice Entry Level Replacement Radio March 28, 2010 M. J. Bodmann I was looking for a radio that would allow my wife to plug in her iPhone but didn't want to break the bank. We've also got Sirius so I wanted one that was compatible with that, and was curious about HD radio as well. Looked at several that cost 2-3 times as much and didn't offer much more; for the price I doubt you can find one that fits the bill better.
Pros:
Nice basic design, nothing fancy. Remote is nice touch. Decent sound quality, 7-band EQ, nice volume with no distortion. CD player plays MP3's (which is nice) and is an HD radio. It has the front AUX input for iPhone or MP3 player that i wanted plus rear inputs for satellite or other accessories like subwoofer or CD changer (does anyone still use those?).
Cons:
Doesn't dim with dash lights and is BRIGHT at night. Menus are somewhat tedious to cycle through.
Took me about an hour to install. Good bang-for-the-buck. definitely would recommend to friends.
JVC=bang for the buck!! March 21, 2010 Luis Flores I read negative comments about the difficulty it is to preset selected radio stations or the difficulty it is to navigate the controls...seriously, you people need to learn how to read the instruction (its in english).
Anyways, JVC has nailed it with this one. HD radio ready feature is great and makes a huge difference in sound. Ipod ready and Satellite radio ready. Best car stereo available at the moment for the price.
