5 out of 5 stars Passionate about new tech..   February 25, 2010
Juan Gomez (MIAMI, FLORIDA, US)
I'm addicted to new tech in car radios and this have great features, love the blue tooth for the phone no more tickets, was easy to install to DVD screen and sound equipment, all in all it's been the best acquisition this far.

3 out of 5 stars No SD card reader, but Amazon customer service great   February 24, 2010
giuliano calrini
I bought this unit for my wife for two features: 1) bluetooth handsfree phone 2) SD card reader. SD card reader was prominently advertised by Amazon.

Had it installed right after getting it.

Only then discovered it has no SD card reader. I was pissed. Contacted customer support by email, took a couple back and forths to explain the problem, and they quickly knocked a bit off the price. While I still wish it had the SD card reader, I'm totally pleased with Amazon's handling of the situation.

Plus:
Playback sound quality
Bluetooth sound quality for both sides of phone conversation. Not stellar, but quite good enough.

Minus:
No SD car reader as advertised
Controls are awful. Hard to get at radio presets. But "tilt" is a single function button?! Menu hell to get to so many features. I love the capacitive touch technology, too bad it was so poorly used. For example, it uses a rotary touch sensor for volume up down, but for nothing else!? Would be great if it were used for more features.

5 out of 5 stars Exellent Unit at all   February 20, 2010

I don't want to repeat what has been told from the others, but I'm not agreeing whit the man who sad that is very hard to adjust the volume wile driving - it is fun even from the unit. Another think - Most of the controls you will need to work whit, have preset options on the touch pad sensors, so you not suppose to go through the menu. Just read the manual.
- It is very easy to install.
- Another thing that is good to know is: In the manual said that the unit can not play DVx (.avi) files from USB mass storage device but it can.
You have to connect the green long, long wire to the parking break, or as I did - connect it somewhere to ground. If you don't see pictures play whit "display" button. All this every body will fine sooner or lather - but what is good to know before even touch the unit is order screen protector right whit the unit. The aria whit the sensors is very soft material and I scratched it whit my fingers. The hole face panel is 2,25" x 6". To save some money you need one 2,25 x 2,25 for the touch sensors and if you want another 2,25 x 3,5 for the LSD screen. I ordered package of three for Tom Tom Go 930 for $6,99 + $4 shipping from [erased by Amazon]. You may like more things there. Also [...]
- Someone complain from the reading speed of the USB source. It is all depend from how you organize the drive and its speed. JVC said - it doesn't like too many sub folders. It read 4Gb flash drive low speed for about 15sec.
- The main reason I chose this JVC was the elegant look and build in Bluetooth future. I'm not sure where the problem is but people could barely hear me.The problem is not from the microphone. I spoke closely, and the same result. A friend mentioned that Nokia 5610 - dos not have good Bluetooth. This Sunday I'll test it whit another phone and will post the result for you. As to me there is NO reason NOT to buy this unit (Update - except the price. $199.00 when I purchase it YES, but [...] - please)
I was between Pioneer, Kenwood (my lovely)and JVC. All the reviews make me thinking long which one to choose. Many people complain from the hard way to control the unit whit out the manual. This JVC is easy to control and it has a nice remote. You can connect back up camera for your child, or car. You can connect external LCD monitor for your kids to watch a move while you listening music, and if you want to know more for the unit download its manual and go through it.
And as for Amazon it doesn't need advertise. Best customer serves ever seen. 6 stars from 5!!

UPDATE: 1.The LSD screen protector dos a good job. It dos not change the sensitivity of the touch pod sensors. Also about the bluetooth my friend has an i-phone and the hearing is the same when you are talking far from the mic. But whit other his Nokia- it was even bather then we talking phone to phone. So the Bluetooth on the JVS is good!
2. The price has increased a lot. It was $200.00

4 out of 5 stars Excellent unit for the price   February 5, 2010
4x4Magnum (Washington)
I purchased this unit a couple of weeks ago for 200bucks and it was money well spent. As with other reviewers there are some things I would change, but overall I wouldn't trade for a more expensive unit.

The Goods:
Easy to install even if you are not a professional installer
Great monitor. I've tried DVD's and purchased a $30 OX backup camera and both look great on the screen. Due to my heater controls I couldn't go with the larger flip-up screen and I'm really glad I couldn't or I would have spent more than I needed.
Sound is excellent and there is plenty of customization you can do with the EQ. The rear sub was a bit loud until actually read the instructions and after making the correct adjustments it works great to.
For the most part all the controls are easy enough to use while driving down the road. Don't let the volume control comments stop you because I found with a bit of practice they are not that bad and since it is in a truck, I just put some velcro on the remote and mounted it next to the deck for when I'm bouncing around off road and the volume buttons on the remote work just a good as your old deck.
The removable face is a must. Why spent 3x as much on a deck that a theif can help himself to at will. With technology these days there is no excuse.

The Bads:
-The Bluetoothe sinks right up when I turn on my truck, but the internal speaker is pretty much worthless driving down the highway. It works fine in town where there is little road noise but plan to get an external speaker if you drive with the window down or want to use it out of town. Access in the deck to make a call isn't perfect, but the voice recognition works pretty good, but again not on the highway.
-It would be really nice if I could play my stereo while the backup camera is on, but that is only the case right when I turn on the ignition. I wired my camera into a switch on my shifter so I can see what the boat is doing while the camper is on the truck and once you go to stereo you have to leave it to get back to the screen that will show you the camera and they both won't work at the same time. A minor inconvience.
If you unhook the battery you have to start all over again with all your personal settings including radio stations except for bluetooth.
The instructions are very good in some aspects, but leave a fair amount of guessing if you use a lot of the options.
