Amazon.com Product Description Smaller than its predecessor by a third, JVC's compact, PDA-styled KT-SR2000 Plug 'n' Play (PnP) Sirius Satellite Radio receiver brings a wealth of music and news programming to your car and/or home audio system in a device that's as easy to use as it is to transport. The PnP receiver offers accessible buttons and a large, bright LCD with multiple options for enhancing legibility. Artist names and song titles are presented in large type to enhance safety by minimizing distractions. Use of the receiver requires activation of a subscription to Sirius Satellite Radio ($12.95 per month or a one-time fee of $499.99). You'll also need a car or home docking apparatus, sold separately. The KT-SR2000 lets you enter a desired channel/stream number directly, or you can search for programming by scrolling through a list of channels or even a list of currently playing artists. For one-touch access, you can set up to 18 stream preferences, or presets, with the option to lock or unlock a given function. For example, you can store a list of preferred categories and stations without fear of alteration until you decide it's time for a change. Memory Capture stores 20 favorite songs in the form of PDTs (Program Definition Text, with artist name and song title), and, when activated, the unit's S-Seek feature will search all incoming streams for those songs. Time-based functions include an alarm, a sleep timer, and program alert, which switches the KT-SR2000 to a preprogrammed stream at a selected time. The KT-SR2000 features an easy-to-read LCD with separate controls for brightness, contrast, and font. This model also features an ambient light sensor, which automatically adjusts the display brightness to suit your viewing conditions. The KT-SR2000 must be used with one of the following adapter kits: - JVC KS-K6013 home kit
- JVC KS-K6012 vehicle kit

Excellent performance, had stood the test of time July 9, 2010 MoreTech (USA) I'm writing this review for people who may be considering buying a used Sirius radio on an auction site.
We've had this radio for over 5 years. It started out mostly in our mini-van, but last year we got around to installing a plug-in stand for our main sound system, and now it often is played several hours a day in the house. It has excellent sound, is easy to operate, and has given us no trouble in spite of the many hours a day it is used.
For our original car installation, we used the internal fm transmitter and picked what we thought was an unused FM frequency. But when you go on road trips, you'll likely hit places where your chosen channel is occuplied by an FM station, and a strong station will override the small transmitter in the Sirius receiver. Plus, depending on where your car's antenna is located, you may get a weak signal from the JVC unit, though for other cars it might be plenty strong.
So we got a JVC antenna switch. Basically it mounts between the car's antenna and the car's FM radio. When the JVC receiver is turned on, it switches from the outside antenna to the wire coming from the Sirius receiver. The Sirius FM transmitter is fed directly to the car's FM receiver. Since that was installed, we get good sound and never hear any interference from commercial FM stations on the chosen frequency.
We still move the radio between the mini-van and the house. This is a rugged little radio that performs well.
Sirius Satellite Radio rules December 2, 2007 Bruce E. Gudin (NJ) There are no substitutes for Howard 100, I just need the stock to go up!
2 Years and Strong November 29, 2007 The Dude (NoVA) I purchased this tuner two years ago now when Howard was doing his 'sound check' before leaving terrestrial radio. It gets warm, but I've fallen asleep with it on God knows how many times with it still running and no problems yet. I keep this thing 'hard-wired'. Either into a Sony receiver via 1/8" to RCA or, 1/8" to cassette adapter. Even with the cassette adapter the sound is good. Actually excellent. I have no complaints except for the remote. The remote well is not that durable in a 'shop' environment, in a ziploc bag. The tuner buttons themselves have taken plenty of use however, and offer no problems. I have read lots of bad reviews on this tuner but mine is great. Just think every NFL game, NBA, NASCAR, and most importantly Howard Stern in crisp audio regular radio can't touch. Just hard wire it. It's not difficult these days. Drop $100 for a head unit with a 1/8" plug in, maybe $160 for those of you not mechanically inclined to have said head unit installed. It will be the best thing you ever do.
Bad Unit!! February 2, 2007 Christa H. Ballington (Lexington, SC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the 2nd one of these I have had, and the 2nd one my husband has had. The first two we got for X-Mas 2004 and were returning them both to JVC by Nov 2005. JVC gave us a horrible time, but since it was under warranty, they replaced both of them.
Now, tonight, my light sensor per JVC has gone out and they won't replace it. I can ship it to them and they will look at it for $65 and then diagnose it. Well.. the lady told me over the phone what the problem was. Then she said they will charge me to fix it, then ship it back.
WHAT??? I don't even know what to do. She suggested calling Circuit City or Best Buy for repair... both of them say NO WAY!!
Well....not such good luck.
When this unit works.. it is great... but we have had 4... and issues with all them..
Good luck!
Great when it works January 6, 2007 D. Hiltz 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very convenient to move this unit between the car and the boombox. However the FM modulator would not work at all in our new 4Runner, even with a simple antenna added to it. We use a cassette adapter -- it degrades the sound quality somewhat. If we had it installed again, we'd buy and install the adapter needed to connect the FM modulator output to our FM radio's antenna cable.
The red display began to be intermittent before it was a year old, now it completely out (15 months old) and is going back to JVC. Hopefully they'll give us a refurbished unit in exchange.
